Day 1 Arrival at Siem Reap

It was clear that our students were excited about the trip. Though it was 6am at the airport, students were empathising with each other on the little sleep that they had. They were not the only ones who had an early morning. Mdm Heng, Mr Lek, and other teachers came to bid us farewell. Perhaps, it was the company of our family that brought smiles to our faces. The warm embraces meant goodbye to the familiar, and hello to adventure!

Arrival procedures were smooth. Within an hour on the road, we arrived at our homestay! It was certainly beyond our expectations. Take a look at our happy faces! Our living space was spacious and clean. The shower heads (and toilet bowls) were assuring, the mattresses and fans looked promising, and most of all, the home cooked food was amazing!

The afternoon was spent on a city tour. We spent some time appreciating the temples and city sights. Many students were impressed with the intricate details of the architecture! On another note, the unfamiliar dirt trails were an eye opener for many, as we surveyed the roadside stalls along the streets of bustling Siem Reap.

One of our team leaders summed up the day well, “We are taking a break from the city life, to embrace life in the rural area.”
