Day 4 – Bulldoze Away!

No stopping for the CamboVIAns as they carried on full steam ahead!

Ox cart ride was first on the menu! (By the way, breakfast menu was baguette with chicken curry. Sedap!) Students were treated to a countryside roller coaster ride. Each cart could seat 4 students with a rider, pulled by two Oxen. Dirt trails, bumpy rides, and foul smell (excretion from the oxen) were all part of the package. CamboVIAns were delighted with the ride! As the ox cart riders say, “HEI!” (giddy up), CamboVIAns went straight back to business after the ride.

Today, we completed another 3 more wooden window frames! Students were comfortable and ready to take the first task. However, this was not so for the 2 following new tasks.

Students had to conduct a lesson in front of 30 over Cambodian kids! They took 30 minutes to prepare and were sent straight to class. All awkwardness quickly dissolved into laughter and warm interaction as the Cambodian kids greeted CamboVIAns with toothy grins and bashful smiles.

There was no time to lose as our students tackled the other new task - spruce up the playground equipment with bright colours. CamboVIAns were given 6 tins of paint and had to paint a seesaw, swing and merry-go-round! Don’t mind us showing off the masterpieces! :]

4.5 hours and the job was done for the day! Great interaction and energy continued between the Cambodian kids and our students. Check out the pictures!

Dissipation of the high energy was nowhere in sight. The supposed rest on the bus ride back, was again, replaced by a mass song singing session! Even the local guides were roped in to sing along!

Thought of the day – How did I perform as a team player on this trip? Did I display a willingness and readiness to participate in all tasks? Did I show a genuine care to my teammates?

The CamboVIAn engine stopped only at 1030pm. Time for us to sleep! "Reat Trei Soou Sdei!"
